Working in close collaboration with HK Studio from the earliest stages, key furniture pieces informed the design from concept through to completion. Design Colab prioritised local artisans, manufacturers and proudly South African craftsmanship, for workplace that reflects Spotify’s African identity while meeting global standards. Bespoke pieces include the custom Dokter and Misses Disco Armchairs, a customised Mash T Noodle sofa, bespoke Tonic Design server units, Framery call pods with custom graphic vinyl, and the striking lilac Dokter and Misses boardroom table.

Delivering these bespoke elements required careful planning and coordination, with the oversized boardroom table requiring a carefully managed installation due to site access constraints. Sustainability was equally central to the project, with a local procurement strategy complemented by an extensive furniture reuse programme. Existing furniture from Spotify’s previous Johannesburg office was assessed, refurbished where possible, and integrated into the new workplace, extending the life items while reducing waste.
