The furniture solution was developed to complement the new workplace while retaining value from the existing fit-out. Existing pieces were carefully assessed and repurposed where suitable, then combined with new workstations, meeting furniture, storage, collaborative seating and breakout pieces to create a consistent overall scheme. The new furniture selections introduced updated finishes, improved functionality and greater flexibility, while the reuse of existing furniture helped reduce unnecessary replacement and supported the project’s wider sustainability approach.
Delivering and installing the furniture within Gatwick Airport required detailed logistical planning. Security procedures, restricted access routes, delivery timeframes across multiple suppliers and the movement of furniture through an operational international airport all had to be coordinated carefully. Furniture deliveries and installation were therefore closely programmed with the local project team to ensure that new and reused items arrived in the correct sequence, were installed efficiently and caused minimal disruption to the airport environment.
